Fast Break Article 3/5/13 - Will the Heat Win 34 Games in a Row?
03/05/2013 15:13For those of you who are wondering why I chose 34: the record for longest win streak in NBA history is 33, set by the 1971-1972 Los Angeles Lakers.
This was just brought up to me a couple days ago. Can the Heat win 34 straight games? Right now the Heat has won 15 straight games. That means the Heat still has to win 19 straight games.
In those 19 games, the Heat has to face 7 teams with above .500 record (They face the Bucks twice which means they have to play 8 games with a team that has a record above .500).
When you do the math, the Heat turn out to have the 7th hardest schedule in the league. They also have to face a team that Pacers (0-2 against them) and Knicks (1-2 against them).
Can the Heat defeat both those teams? I don’t believe so.
There are many key’s for the Heat to win 34 straight games. Here are the important ones:
- Stay Healthy
- Don’t listen to the media
- Beat the easy teams, without going into OT or close games
- Lebron and DWade have to be on a roll
- The 3 point shooters have to be on a roll
- The guards need to cause turnovers
- CONFIDENCE
- MENTAL TOUGHNESS
In all, there are 8 obstacles to go through. I also didn’t even mention their 7th hardest schedule.
The two most important obstacles have to be mental toughness and confidence. Without those two, you can’t play your best and you can be scared at times. Being mentally tough goes along the line of staying healthy and not listening to the media. Being confident goes along the line of beating easy teams easily and everyone playing well.
Taking into fact their tough schedule and everything that needs to go right, I don’t believe the Heat can beat the Lakers 33 straight wins record.
(In my opinion, I don’t even think they will beat the Clippers 17 game win streak record. They have to face the Pacers who are 2-0 against them for the 18th win.)
