Yesterday we saw the Grizzlies take on the Heat. We saw the Grizzlies come close to beating the Heat. I still believe the Grizzlies can beat the Heat.
The reason OKC can’t beat them, is they don’t have a dominant big man scorer. You CANNOT try to beat the Heat by playing on the perimeter. Lebron, Dwyane, Chalmers, and Cole will cause turnovers and this will lead to easy layups and dunks.
The inside of the Heat defense is the Heat’s weakness. Chris Bosh playing center and Udonis Haslem playing power forward is not a good combination.
That’s why I am saying the Heat will win the championship if the Grizzlies, Spurs, Lakers, Clippers or Pacers do not face the Heat in the playoffs. Still, the Heat could beat any four of those teams in the playoffs.
The Grizzlies have Randolph and Gasol, the Spurs have Duncan and Diaw, the Lakers have Howard and Gasol, the Clippers have Griffin and Jordan, and the Pacers have Hibbert and West. The Grizzlies have beaten the Heat once and lost once, the Spurs lost once, the Lakers have lost twice, the Clippers have won once, and the Pacers have won twice.
Jeff Van Gundy commented on how to beat the Heat before the Grizzlies and Heat game. Jeff said, “Pound the smaller Heat in the paint. They got to pound it into Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol and limit their turnovers.”
Another thing you have to do to beat the Heat is to control Lebron and Wade. The Grizzlies have what it takes. We saw last night that Lebron struggled until the 4th quarter. In fact, Lebron didn’t make one field goal attempt in the 2nd or 3rd quarter.
Dwyane, on the other hand, scored 22 points and had 8 assists.
The final thing you have to do to beat the Heat is, stop their three point shooters. Last night the Heat had 10 point makes. Shane Battier went 4 for 5 with 14 points.
